Lirik lagu Memories dari Maroon 5 menceritakan tentang kehilangan, dan kisah di balik lagu ini adalah mengenai meninggalnya manajer yang telah bersama dengan grup ini selama 15 tahun.

Lagu 'Memories' adalah single utama dari Maroon 5 di album ketujuh mereka, ditulis oleh sang vokalis Adam Levine, Stefan Johnson, Jordan Johnson, Michael Pollack, Jacob Kasher Hindlin, Jon Bellion dan Vincent Ford.

Dikutip dari Story of Song, dari sisi komposisinya, lagu ini didassarkam pada deretan harmonik dan melodi “Pachelbel Canon” oleh Johann Pachelbel, seorang komposer Jerman.

Lirik lagu memories menceritakan tentang kehilangan. Adam Levine, pernah mengunggah sebuah cuitan di twitter bahwa lagu ini diperuntukkan untuk mereka yang sedang kehilangan.

Dan siapa sih yang tak pernah merasakan pedihn dan sakitnya ditinggal?

Sementara tu, gitaris Maroon 5, James Valentin mengungkapkan gimana lagu ini membawa makna yang berbeda untuk mereka yang saat itu baru saja mengalami banyak kahilangan. "Kami kehilangan manajer lama kami, Jordan Feldstein. Kami mendengar kerangka lagu ini dan mengira itu cocok dengan kami saat itu," katanya.

Di video klip lagu tersebut, tamapk Levine menyanyikan lagu itu ke kamera di ruangan yang gelap dengan cahaya yang menyinari wajahnya. Di akhir video, tertulis kalimat 'For Jordi'.
