Nama Mariah Carey menjadi salah satu penyanyi favorit banyak orang. Apalagi ia terkenal akan suaranya yang lantang.

Salah satu lagunya yang sangat berkesan adalah 'Hero'. Lagu ini ia tulis bersama dengan Walter Afanasieff yang kemudian dirilis pada 19 Oktober 1993.
